  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass, dipped in sugar, then bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

  • For crispier cookies, bake a minute longer.
  • For softer cookies, decrease baking time slightly.
