Southern Maple Sweet Potato Casserole

  • 4 cups mashed sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes, maple syrup, brown sugar, milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  4. Pour the mixture into a baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. Sprinkle the chopped pecans on top.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until heated through and slightly caramelized on top.

Notes

  • For extra sweetness, increase the amount of maple syrup.
  • Can be prepared a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
