Raspberry Angel Food Cake

  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 12 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fresh raspberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, sift together cake flour, 3/4 cup of sugar, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat egg whites until foamy, then add cream of tartar and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gradually add remaining sugar while continuing to beat until glossy.
  5. Fold in flour mixture gently until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in vanilla extract and raspberries.
  7. Pour batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Cool upside down on a wire rack before removing from the pan.
  10. Serve with additional raspberries if desired.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can drizzle raspberry sauce on top before serving.
  • Ensure egg whites are at room temperature for the best volume.
